The Hope of Immanuel

Sir Thomas More wrote, “A drowning man will grasp a straw.” Fear will cause us to hope in all kinds of things. In this passage from Isaiah, God gives King Ahaz a sign that reveals Ahaz’s misplaced hope. But today that same sign offers us the only real hope there is: The hope of Immanuel, “God with us.”
